We are delighted to announce the opening of our brand spanking new ‘Taverham Vets Bure Valley’ surgery in Aylsham in July 2016. It is the latest development of the practice, and aims to better serve our clients who live in the more rural areas north of Norwich.
The surgery has been the product of two years hard work involving purchase, submission of a planning application for a ‘change of use’ and then extensive conversions and the utilisation of the latest specialist equipment.
What facilities do we have?
The creation of the surgery involved top to bottom redecoration, plus the installation of modern heating and lighting systems. The private car park has been upgraded and incorporates 5 marked parking bays for clients. Such a private car park in the centre of the town is quite a luxury, but we view it as essential for our clients’ convenience. The light and attractive reception and waiting areas and WC lead off to a purpose -designed consulting room. Beyond this in the clinical areas we have a prep room, operating theatre, diagnostic imaging suite (with state-of-the-art digital x-ray), lab and separate dog and cat kennels.
What services do we provide?
We provide most of the common procedures performed at Taverham Vets such as neutering, routine surgery, dental care (tooth extractions and scaling/polishing), x-rays and ultrasound examinations. More specialized and unusual procedures such as complex surgery are best done at the main hospital location in Taverham, as is the management of any animals requiring 24/7 inpatient care and observation.
Emergency care is provided by the Norwich Night-Vet service run by Taverham Vets out of the main Taverham clinic 20 minutes away. Staff are on site there 24/7.
Taverham Vets is a large veterinary group with extensive facilities, specialist equipment and many vets, nurses and support staff. This ensures we have a great deal of expertise ‘in house’ but this can occasionally be a problem when it comes to continuity of care. Taverham Vets- Bure Valley represents the best of both worlds whereby we aim to offer a more personal service in a peaceful setting but with the backup of the main hospital at Taverham.
Roger Bannock and Guy Pitcher are each routinely at Taverham Vets-Bure Valley two days a week. They both set up the Taverham Vets group over 20 years ago, and have 55 years of clinical experience between them. Roger and Guy are delighted to be in Aylsham to provide the personal service our clients appreciate.
The third of our vets who regularly works at Aylsham is Jess Blake who has been qualified 9 years and is currently working towards the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice. Our qualified veterinary nurse is Paula Lawson (VN) who is very experienced, having been in general practice for many years and is the glue which holds the surgery together. Our two receptionists Ellen and Sara complete the team.
Where are we?
Taverham Vets Bure Valley is conveniently located in the centre of Aylsham just off the market square.
It is easily found just 200m or so down the hill from Budgen’s supermarket as one drives out of Aylsham on the Norwich Road. If you reach Palmers Lane, Keys Auctioneers, heading for Tesco and the doctor’s surgery you have gone too far!
We have prominent and distinctive signage and a private car park directly off the main road. The car park is illuminated for those dark winter evenings.
