Roger qualified from Cambridge University in 1988. His ambition was always to start his own practice in his home area of Taverham and he achieved this in 1994. Roger’s main professional interests lie in Soft Tissue Surgery and Reproductive disorders. Roger is a countryman at heart, has two working Labradors and a Cocker Spaniel and regularly competes in field trials across the county.

Guy qualified from Cambridge University in 1989, after which he spent a year at Bristol University training in their surgical department. His main interest is orthopaedic surgery and Guy is one of the few vets in the UK who have further qualifications in orthopaedics, general surgery and radiology. Guy regularly accepts referrals from other local vets in these disciplines and he is now developing the new exciting field of “keyhole surgery” at the practice.

Tom qualified from Cambridge University in 2001 and moved to Taverham from a large multi-discipline practice in Bedford in 2007. He gained his Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging in 2007 and his RCVS Certificate in Cardiology in 2011.  Tom was awarded the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society Prize for achieving the best overall examination results during his Certificate exams and at the time of writing is one of only 81 Veterinary Surgeons in the UK to hold the CertVC qualification and one of only 47 to hold the CertVDI qualification. Tom has particular interests in radiology, doppler echocardiography, laparoscopy and ultrasonography and he accepts referral work from local practices. He is also on the official Veterinary Cardiovascular Society list of official Veterinary Surgeons for Breed Heart Scoring. Tom enjoys spending time with his young family, Anne-Marie, Amelia and Henry, spending time in the garden and walking with his dogs. Tom became a director of the company in 2010.

Kate graduated from Bristol University in 1990.  She holds RCVS qualifications in Dermatology and sees referral skin problems sent to her from other local practices in addition to our own cases.  She is a member of the European Society of Veterinary Dermatology and the British Veterinary Dermatology Study Group.  Kate works part-time at the surgery in general veterinary work as well as in dermatology.

Helen joined us in 2011 having qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2006.  She is interested in all soft tissue surgery but especially ‘keyhole’ surgery including laparoscopic bitch spays, liver biopsies, thoracoscopy and all types of endoscopy.  She completed her Certificate in Endoscopy and Endosurgery in 2015.  Helen now has her sights set on advancing her skills in Ophthalmology and is now studying for a Certificate in this subject.

Jo also joined us in 2011 having qualified from the Edinburgh Veterinary College in 2006.  After qualifying Jo completed an internship at Cambridge Veterinary School.  She has particular interests in medical and critical care cases and spends a lot of her time at the surgery looking after the hospitalised pets.  She has recently passed her BSAVA certificate in small animal medicine with distinction and has now started work on a further qualification in diagnostic imaging.  Jo also performs some of the practice’s ‘keyhole’ procedures.

Jess graduated in 2007 from the Royal Veterinary College.  After a few years in practice in Norfolk, Jess took a year off to travel, returning to England to work as a locum vet.  She settled initially in Suffolk but returned to Norfolk to work at Taverham Vets in 2015.  Jess has an interest in Medicine and Ultrasonography and is currently working towards a certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.  In her spare time Jess enjoys running, crafting, good food and entertaining her little Springer Spaniel!

Daniel qualified in South Africa in 2009 and since moving to the UK has worked in Sheringham, Dorset and Poole. Daniel joined the Taverham Vets team in 2017. He is currently studying towards a general surgery certificate and has an interest in orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery. At home he has a rescue cat called Wilson from the Cats Protection and he and his wife are expecting their first child any day now! In his spare time Daniel likes to spend his time rock climbing or fishing.

Sophie graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014.  She moved to Norfolk for her first job in small animal practice, and joined TVP in 2015.  Sophie spends her time outside of work with her beloved dog, Nessie (pictured here), and is also a keen runner, currently training for the London Marathon.  Having developed and interest in small animal surgery she would like to develop her skills by completing a certificate in the near future.

Referrals Nurse

Our Advanced Practitioner Veterinary Surgeons accept referrals from other practices for orthopaedic opinions and surgery, diagnostic imaging, cardiology, dermatology and endoscopy.  Sonia liaises with the veterinary practices and clients referred to us for these specialist investigations. Sonia is an experienced orthopaedic nurse who assists Vet Guy Pitcher in theatre with his referral cases and Tom Robertson with his cardiology and diagnostic imaging cases.  Sonia has worked for the practice for 17 years and has a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Joy Thompson, Practice Manager

Having grown up locally, Joy has worked at the practice since it’s initial set up 21 years ago.  Now Practice Manager, Joy manages the day to day running of the practice along with all financial, insurance and personnel matters.

Jan (pictured here with Mr Olaf the practice cat!) formally joined the practice in 2002 having helped out on a casual basis for several years beforehand.  Jan supports Joy, the Practice Manager and the Directors and has multiple responsibilities from buying teabags to IT!
