At Taverham Vets, we understand how difficult it is to lose a beloved pet. Their companionship and unconditional love create bonds that are among the most meaningful in our lives. We are here to provide end-of-life care with the compassion, dignity, and support you and your pet deserve during this challenging time.
Our services are available both in-practice and in the comfort of your own home, allowing you to choose the setting that best meets your needs. We know that the relationships we have with our pets are some of the deepest connections in our lives and our specially trained team are here to offer bereavement support.
What is best for you and your pet
Making decisions in advance can ease some of the worry and distress you may feel as the day draws closer. We offer appointments face-to-face, over the phone, or you can email us your questions if you would prefer. Contact us.
We can help you with:
- Timing
- Location (at home or at the practice)
- Who would like to be present
- How you would like the entire process to be
- Options for burial or cremation of your loved one
We can also help with how you would like to remember your pet and provide emotional support for you after they have gone.
How will I know it is time to say goodbye?
The decision to say goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy. While we all hope our furry friends will naturally pass away in their sleep, the reality is that many pets suffer from conditions that significantly impact their quality of life. When this happens, we believe making the compassionate choice to have your pet euthanised or 'put to sleep' can be the kindest action to take.
Our team have the experience and knowledge to offer you advice, explain your pet’s condition and what they will be going through, and answer your questions – these might include:
- How will I know if my pet's quality of life has significantly declined?
- What are the signs that my pet is in pain or suffering?
- What can I expect during the euthanasia process?
- How can I cope with the grief of losing my pet?
- Are there ways to memorialise my pet after they have passed?
At Taverham Vets, we believe in making informed, compassionate decisions, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Your pet's comfort and dignity are our top priorities, and we are committed to helping you navigate this emotional journey with care and sensitivity.
Pet cremation services
Here at Taverham Vets, our trusted pet cremation service is CPC based in Cambridge, who will treat your pet with the dignity and care they deserve. If you decide that you wish to have your pet’s ashes returned to keep or scatter, you can choose from a lovely range of caskets, urns, and other tributes.
For pets buried at home, planting a tree, shrub or flowers to mark the spot can be a meaningfull reminder of the wonderful times you shared and can help with the grieving process. If you would like a paw print or lock of hair our team can arrange this for you.
